At andieanderin, we are anxiously awaiting March 20th to ring in the start of Spring and plan our many necktie ensembles for the new season. But we are dually excited to celebrate our first National Women's History Month since our inception.
With our necktie designs inspired by influential women, we spend all year researching amazing women and their successes, but this month is just another reminder as to why it is important to reinforce and also introduce some of the amazing accomplishments by women.
The theme for this year's National Women's History Month is Nevertheless She Persisted: Honoring Women Who Fight All Forms of Discrimination Against Women.
And the 15 women listed below are national honorees for the year, each exemplifying the theme in their lives and work. Be sure to also check our instagram account as we introduce one of these women each day this month.
The 2018 Honorees include:
Susan Burton Margaret Dunkle Geraldine Ferraro Jill Moss Greenberg Roma Guy Cristina Jiménez Saru Jayaraman Marty Langelan Pat Maginnis Arlene B. Mayerson Pauli Murray Elizabeth Peratrovich Loretta J. Ross Angelica Salas Linda Spoonster Schwartz
Did you know that a Woman Invented Windshield Wipers and the Dishwasher?
In addition to these great women being honored this Women's History Month, we thought there is no better time than the present to share a few of the great videos we have come across, highlighting trailblazing women who were the first to accomplish something in their field as well as fun (and educational) videos on inventions by women. Be ready for plenty of great tidbits worth sharing this month.
