We are continuing our 'how to tie' necktie series with the 'Folded Bow'. For anyone that wraps a lot of packages with ribbon bows - you may already be familiar with this tie :)
We love this particular tie option with our 'Grand Slammers' necktie inspired by Serena Williams and Althea Gibson because the organza in this necktie creates a little more stiffness than our other silk satin neckties. Therefore the bow can be more structured and stays in place all day long. But of course, you can wear any of the neckties in this tie style!
Check out the steps below to give her a try!
Here is a full preview of the steps and below are the steps you can follow individually.
Step 1: Start with the necktie resting on the back of your neck with one end longer than the other. The more you play with this tie option, you will get a feel for how much longer one end needs to than the other. The longer end will be the side that you fold to create the bow base.
Step 2: Take the longer tail end and fold back and forth to create the bow ends. If you want to get extra creative and create a bow that has two loops on each side, you would just need to fold the tail back and forth an additional time.
Step 3: Take the opposite tail and wrap the folded bow you just created, pulling from back to front.
Step 4: Finish wrapping that same tail piece around the bow - down between the front of your neck and the bow you folded.
Step 5: Looking at the backside view below (which is up against the front of your neck), take that same tail piece and wrap itself on the backside, essentially knotting itself to tighten and hold the folded bow in place.
Step 6: To tighten the center knot and hold the bow in place, pinch the center of bow and pull on the tail of the piece you just wrapped. If the tails become too different in length, you can easily pull on the folded pieces of the bow to
Step 7: Voila! The folded bow!
